Bailieborough Castle Lake Walk

3.5 miles (5.7 km)

This circular walk takes you around Castle Lake on the edge of Lough Oughter in County Cavan.
There's a parking and picnic area at the northern edge of the lake where you can start your walk. Footpaths then take you around the edge of the lake with long peaceful woodland sections where you can look out for the red squirrels.
The town of Bailieborough is located just to the west and a fine place for some post walk refreshment or a stroll along the smaller Bailieborough Lough.
You can continue your walking at the nearby Lough Ramor or Lough Sheelin.
