Crackington Haven to Tintagel Walk

10.9 miles (17.5 km)

This walk follows a section of the South West Coast Path from Crackington Haven to Tintagel. The route runs for just under 11 miles following the undulating cliff top path south to the historic ruins of Tintagel via the delightful village of Boscastle.
The early section of this trail out of Crackington Haven tackles some of the highest and most dramatic sheer cliffs in Cornwall, passing over High Cliff, which towers 223 metres above the Atlantic Ocean.... The path then descends into the uniquely sheltered, slate-lined harbour village of Boscastle before climbing back onto the rugged coastline toward Willapark and the sweeping expanse of Bossiney Haven. The journey concludes at the medieval ruins of Tintagel Castle, a spectacular historic site managed by English Heritage that sits perched across a dramatic rocky headland, deeply intertwined with the ancient legends of King Arthur.
The exposed maritime cliffs and steep coastal valleys along this linear path form a highly protected environment for specialised coastal wildlife and hardy flora. The clifftops are carpeted with sea pink thrift, wild thyme, and gorse bushes, which provide vital feeding grounds for rare birds like the red-billed chough, peregrine falcon, and stonechat. Walkers can regularly observe fulmars and guillemots nesting on the sheer rock faces, whilst grey seals can frequently be spotted swimming in the churning waters or resting on the isolated rocky coves below the cliffs.
