Greve De Lecq to Plemont Circular Walk

8.3 miles (13.3 km)

This 13.3 km circular route begins at the sheltered sandy bay of Grève de Lecq, where you immediately join the rugged cliff paths heading north-west. The initial climb out of the bay is steep but rewards you with dramatic views of the granite coastline as you approach Plémont Point.... This headland, once a holiday camp and now a restored nature reserve, is home to iconic giant puffin sculptures and offers a vantage point over the deep sea caves tucked into the cliffs below.
Continuing west across the heathland of Les Landes, you reach the 14th-century ruins of Grosnez Castle. This remains one of the most atmospheric spots on the island, situated on the extreme north-western tip with panoramic views stretching across the Paternosters reef to the neighbouring islands of Sark and Guernsey.
The path then turns south, traversing the flat, gorse-covered plateau towards the imposing concrete silhouette of the World War II German Naval Tower, a range-finding station known as MP3.
Just past the tower, you will encounter the striking 200-foot natural spire of Le Pinacle. This pink granite monolith is not only a geological wonder but also a site of immense historical significance, having served as a prehistoric and Roman sanctuary. From here, the trail begins its descent towards the hamlet of L'Etacq at the northern end of St Ouen’s Bay. As you reach the sea level at L'Etacq, the landscape opens up into the vast, five-mile sweep of the island's Atlantic coast, often busy with surfers and foragers at low tide.
The final leg of the walk leaves the coast behind as you head east, climbing inland through the tranquil countryside of St Ouen and St Mary. The wild, salt-sprayed cliffs are replaced by the patchwork fields, traditional granite farmhouses, and narrow Green Lanes that define Jersey’s rural heart. This sheltered inland stretch provides a gentle contrast to the exposed coastal paths, eventually leading you through wooded valleys or winding farm roads that drop back down into the basin of Grève de Lecq to complete the circuit.
