Hayfield to Edale Walk

6.8 miles (11 km)

This walk follows a section of the Pennine Way from Hayfield to Edale. The route runs for just under 7 miles, following the waymarked path south east along the River Kinder before continuing to Coldwell Clough, Oaken Clough, Upper Booth and Edale.
The walk takes you through some of the finest scenery in the Peak District, with the route passing beneath the dramatic Kinder Scout plateau and through the rugged cloughs that cut into its eastern side.... The River Kinder provides a particularly attractive start to the walk, with the path following the valley through open moorland before climbing through the wooded slopes of Coldwell Clough.
Further on, the route passes through Oaken Clough and Upper Booth, a small and picturesque hamlet surrounded by the hills of the Upper Edale Valley. From here the landscape opens out as you approach Edale, with views towards the surrounding peaks and ridges. The walk finishes in Edale, the traditional starting point for many Pennine Way adventures and a popular base for exploring Kinder Scout and the wider Peak District.
