Kennack Sands to Coverack Coastal Walk

5 miles (8 km)

This walk follows part of the South West Coast Path from Kennack Sands to Coverack. Starting from the car park at Kennack Sands you follow the waymarked path east for roughly 5 miles.... On the way you pass through the Kennack Sands Nature Reserve before coming to Lankidden Cove and Hyrlas Rock. The final section runs past Porthbeer Cove before finishing in Coverack.
Kennack Sands is one of the largest beaches on the Lizard Peninsula, with a mix of sand, dunes and rocky outcrops backed by heathland and coastal grassland. The adjacent nature reserve is known for its wildlife and supports a variety of coastal plants, insects and birds adapted to the exposed maritime environment.
Beyond the beach, the path follows a rugged coastline of cliffs, rocky coves and offshore reefs, with extensive views across the English Channel. Lankidden Cove is a particularly secluded inlet, enclosed by steep slopes and backed by rough coastal vegetation, while Hyrlas Rock forms a distinctive offshore landmark visible from several points along the route.
As the walk approaches Coverack, the coastline becomes more varied with small coves and rocky headlands overlooking clear coastal waters. Porthbeer Cove is a sheltered inlet beneath the cliffs, after which the path descends towards the village. Coverack sits on a broad bay and retains the character of a traditional Cornish fishing village, providing an attractive finish to this scenic coastal walk on the eastern side of the Lizard Peninsula.
