Polzeath to Daymer Bay Walk

1.2 miles (2 km)

If you are looking for one of the most scenic coastal walks in North Devon and Cornwall, the trail from Polzeath to Daymer Bay offers an accessible and breathtaking experience.
This stunning stretch of the South West Coast Path is perfect for families, dog walkers, and photographers alike, providing panoramic views of the Camel Estuary and the rugged Atlantic coastline.
The journey begins at the Tristram Car Park in Polzeath, a popular vantage point overlooking the famous surfing beach.... From here, you head south along the well-maintained clifftop path, which offers a relatively level and easy-going walk compared to the more strenuous sections of the Cornish coast. As you move away from the bustle of Polzeath, the trail winds through coastal grasslands and past Trebetherick Point, where you can observe unique geological rock formations and the remains of shipwrecks that are visible at low tide.
Continuing toward Daymer Bay, the landscape transitions from jagged cliffs to soft, rolling sand dunes. This area is a haven for local wildlife, where you might spot skylarks nesting in the dunes or oystercatchers feeding along the shoreline. As you approach the sheltered waters of Daymer Bay, the view opens up toward the Doom Bar and the distant headlands of Padstow. The walk concludes on the golden sands of Daymer, a tranquil spot known for its calm swimming waters and the nearby St Enodoc Church, famously the final resting place of Sir John Betjeman.
