Shoreham and Lullingstone Lavender Fields Walk

2.3 miles (3.7 km)

This walk takes you from Shoreham to Lullingstone Country Park via the Lavender Fields of Castle Farm.
The route includes riverside trails along the River Darent Valley Path and some splendid views of the surrounding Kent countryside.
Starting in Shoreham you head north along the waymarked trail to the vibrant rows of Castle Farm, which is home to the largest lavender farm in the UK.... During the flowering season from late June to late July, the air is thick with fragrance and the fields transform into a sea of deep purple, creating a Mediterranean atmosphere in the heart of the Kent Downs.
Continuing north from the farm, the trail brings you to the gates of Lullingstone Castle, one of England’s oldest family estates, which has been inhabited by the Hart Dyke family since the 15th century. The estate is home to the unique World Garden of Plants, which contains rare species from across the globe arranged by their country of origin. The walk also passes the gatehouse where Henry VIII and Queen Anne were once entertained, and sits just a short distance from the impressive remains of the Lullingstone Roman Villa.
You can extend the walk to Eynsford on the Shoreham to Eynsford Walk.

Castle Lavender Farm
Castle Lavender Farm. The facilities at Castle Farm include the award-winning Hop Shop, where you can find local produce, dried flowers, and unique lavender-infused gifts. There is also a seasonal coffee cart and a dedicated picnic area, though it is important to note that the lavender fields themselves are private and require pre-booked tickets for close-up access and photography. The farm is also a significant producer of Kentish hops, and you will see the tall, traditional hop poles standing in the adjacent fields.
