Swanley Park Circular Walk
1.2 miles (2 km)This easy circular walk through Swanley Park takes you through 60 acres of managed parkland and can be completed in approximately 30 to 50 minutes.
Starting from the The Birches Car Park or the south entrance, you follow a well-maintained network of paths that are suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.... The trail leads you down toward the central boating lake, where the path wraps around the water's edge, offering views of the pier and the park's cafe.
As you continue the loop, the path transitions through more open green spaces and alongside the tracks of the miniature passenger railway. You will pass through the Golden Jubilee avenue of trees and can explore the managed Environment Area near the top of the park. This area features wildflower meadows and native hedging designed to encourage a high diversity of local species.
The park is a significant haven for wildlife, particularly birdlife concentrated around the lake and woodland patches. You are likely to see resident herons, cormorants, and Canada geese, alongside more colourful visitors like kingfishers and ring-necked parakeets. The wildflower meadows are also home to various butterflies and insects, while lucky walkers might occasionally spot a slow-worm basking near the nature area or a fox moving through the eastern scrub at dusk.
To continue your walking around Swanley you could head to Scadbury Park or try the peaceful woodland trails at Joydens Wood.
