Wingfield Manor Walk

This walk visits Wingfield Manor in Derbyshire. The walk starts in South Wingfield and follows trails south past the ruins of the old manor.... The route then continues across Wingfield Park to Crich where you can explore Crich Common.
Wingfield is an impressive medieval ruin dating from the fourteenth century, with substantial remains including the great hall, chapel and residential buildings. The manor was built for John de Wessington and later became associated with the powerful Talbot family. Its elevated position also gives it fine views across the surrounding Derbyshire countryside.
The route continues through the attractive landscape of Wingfield Park, with a mixture of farmland, woodland and quiet country paths. This is a peaceful part of Derbyshire, with the rolling hills and valleys providing a fine setting for walking between the historic sites and villages.
The walk finishes in Crich, a picturesque village on the edge of the Peak District. From here you can explore Crich Common, which provides wide views across the surrounding countryside, or visit the nearby National Tramway Museum, home to a fascinating collection of historic trams.
