Lough Lene

On the eastern tip of the lake you'll find a parking area with access to a lakeside footpath and picnic area. From here you can enjoy some fine views across the water to the surrounding woods and countryside....
The area is great for bird watching with mute swan, teal, pochard, great crested grebe, little grebe, tufted duck, grey heron, water rail, mallard, goldeneye, cormorant and wigeon to look out for. There's also an enclosed swimming area if you fancy a dip!
The lake is located close to the villages of Castlepollard, Collinstown and Fore. You can continue your walking by heading north to Fore Abbey or west to Lough Derravaragh.
