You start in Alnwick near the striking castle and then head towards the coast to Alnmouth along the Alnwick to Alnmouth Aln Valley Cycle Path. This follows a dismantled railway along a pleasant traffic free section.
The route then follows the coast to Bamburgh and then onto the mystical and ancient Holy Island with its ruined monastery and castle.
The final stretch is largely off road taking you up the coast to Berwick-upon-Tweed.
