Wendover Woods
Enjoy miles of great cycling and walking trails in this large forest in Buckinghamshire. The cycle trail is a moderate 5 mile route on waymarked surfaced tracks. It has some steep sections but is generally suitable for all abilities/families.
For walkers there are several waymarked trails including a lovely easy access trail for all abilities. On the way you can see sculptures, deciduous trees, evergreen trees and many woodland flowers. There are also splendid views of the surrounding Chilterns countryside.
Other attractions in the woods include a splendid cafe and a Go Ape forest adventure with Zip Wires, Tarzan Swings and a variety of Crossings. For children there is a fun Superworm trail from the creators of the Gruffalo. The woods also include the highest point in the Chilterns at Haddington Hill.
If you'd like to continue your outing then several long distance trails run past the forest. You could pick up the Icknield Way Path, the Chiltern Link or The Ridgeway or head to the nearby Grand Union Canal and pick up the Wendover Canal Arm to visit Weston Turville Reservoir .
The woods are located near Aylesbury and Tring. Heading north east along the Ridgeway will take you into Tring via the lovely Tring Park.

Pubs/Cafes
Head to the on site Wendover Woods Cafe, located right next to the main car park. There's lots of tables outside where you can enjoy a meal with great views of the trees. It's a lovely spot to relax after your exercise. They serve a wide range of tasty hot and cold locally sourced food (including daily specials), delicious cakes and freshly baked pastries, as well as a range of hot and cold Fairtrade drinks. Dog Walking
With miles of nice wide trails the woods are a great place for a dog walk and you will probably see plenty of other owners with their pets on your outing. The on site cafe mentioned above is also dog friendly.

Boddington Hill - South Side on the walk round the old fort.
Drive through Wendover Woods. The Forestry Commission have built good tarmacked lanes into Wendover Woods to give access to walks and picnic sites which are very popular. A one-way system operates and this view is looking back (i.e. the wrong way to drive).
Hengrove Wood entrance. The Woods include several smaller named woods, this one being Hengrove Wood.
Holloway in Wendover Woods. Taken on a walk from Mansion Hill to The Cafe in the Woods. This holloway is one of a number that climb diagonally up the edge of the Chiltern Escarpment. They are tracks which were originally eroded into the slope by people travelling between the Vale of Aylesbury and the flat summit of the hills - and the resulting deep groove could be several thousand years old, although may have been modified to make it suitable for forestry operations.
Yew Tree. Note the number of yew trees to the right of the path. These may have been planted when the wood were managed by members of the Rothchild family at the end of the 19th century.
Bluebells in the woods. A beautiful carpet of bluebells amidst the deciduous trees in this part of the site. The woods here are mixed, but conifers prevail in most areas - of course the bluebells only thrive in deciduous areas.
Chivery. Looking along the Forestry Commission drive that leads out of Wendover Woods at the Hengrove Wood exit. The trees now resplendent in their Spring foliage. The nearest tree looks to be a Black Poplar - quite rare in Britain as a whole, but comparatively common in this area.
