Scottsdale Phoenix Arizona Canal Path Walk
Begin your walk along the Arizona Canal at Arcadia Park, near East Arcadia Drive and 44th Street — a well-maintained trailhead in the heart of a leafy Phoenix neighbourhood.
Head east along the paved canal path, shaded by trees and framed by suburban backyards, transitioning smoothly from residential zones to a more open, green corridor . You'll soon pass the artistic Soleri Bridge and Plaza in downtown Scottsdale — a popular spot for photos and an interesting public-space attraction.
Continuing eastward, the trail arcs toward central Phoenix, offering views of historic canal crossings and intermittent public artwork. The walk culminates near Arizona Falls, a restored waterfall and hydroelectric installation nestled in G.R. Herberger Park — a scenic and lively destination at the canal’s eastern end.
This roughly 3 mile section is flat, well paved, and accessible, making it ideal for walkers, joggers, and cyclists. Along the way, enjoy a blend of residential charm, public art, and unique canal heritage, all leading steadily into the more urban heart of Phoenix.
The trail also links up with the Crosscut Canal Path which you can follow south to the Evelyn Hallman Park in Tempe.
