Bakethin Reservoir and Kielder Viaduct Walk
This walk visits the Bakethin Reservoir and Kielder Viaduct at Kielder Water in Northumberland.
You can start the walk from the car park just south of Butteryhaugh Bridge. From here you can pick up trails heading over the 19th century railway viaduct and then along the eastern side of the reservoir. On the way there's peaceful woodland trails, pleasant waterside paths and great views across the lake to the surrounding hills and countryside from the elevated path across the viaduct.
The area is also great for wildlife so keep a look out for osprey over the lake and red squirrels in the woods.
To continue your walking you could pick up the Kielder Reservoir Walk or head north to climb Deadwater Fell and enjoy some wonderful views over the area.

Kielder Viaduct. Kielder Viaduct consists of seven semi-circular masonry skew arches and was built in 1862 by the North British Railway to carry the Border Counties Line across marshy land, which following flooding to create Kielder Water, became the place where Deadwater Burn joins Bakethin Reservoir. Now closed to rail traffic, the bridge is currently used as a footpath.
