Rothbury, Cartington Hill, Primose Woods And Carriage Drive Walk
This circular walk explores the area to the west of Rothbury in Northumberland.
It's a quiet and varied walk with hill climbs, woodland sections and country lanes to enjoy. At the northern end of the walk you will pass close to the 304 metre high Cartington Hill. On the eastern side of the walk you could take a small detour to explore the splendid Cragside Country Park.
To continue your walking in the area you could pick up the Rothbury Riverside Walk and enjoy a stroll along the River Coquet.

The southern cairn on the extensive summit of Cartington Hill is in this square. The track seen on the right heads down the Spout Burn valley towards Cartington hamlet. The wood oin the left is on the lower northern slopes of Chapel Hill.
Near Crocky's Heugh. One of the Cragside estate tracks runs between woodland and moorland to the north of Rothbury. To the right the land rises towards Cartington Hill.
