Coire Gabhail Lost Valley Circular Walk

6.2 miles (10 km)

Ordnance Survey Map Open Streetmap A walk through the Lost Valley is a magnificent and memorable experience in Glencoe, Scotland. This hidden valley, a deep basin carved out by a glacier, is steeped in both natural beauty and a dark history.
As you walk, the mountains towering on either side of the valley create a sense of scale and isolation. The valley is known for its incredible echo, with the sound of the river and your own voice bouncing off the high cliffs. The name "Lost Valley" comes from its history as a hiding place for stolen cattle. The valley's isolation also played a tragic role in the 1692 Massacre of Glencoe, when fleeing members of the Clan MacDonald sought refuge here.
Reaching the flat, grassy floor of the valley is a fantastic reward. Here, surrounded by the three great mountains known as the Three Sisters of Glencoe you can fully appreciate the incredible natural amphitheatre.
This circular walk takes you through the valley, climbing to series of peaks with wonderful views from the high points.
