Open Streetmap This circular loop walk explores the stunning Glen Of Aherlow in County Tipperary.
The valley is located between Slievenamuck and the Galtee Mountains and includes some wonderful views from the high points.
On the way there are some peaceful woodland trails which are ideal for dog walking.
For cyclists, the Killmallock Cycle Hub Loop also passes through the forest.
To extend the walk head south to visit the lovely Lough Curra and enjoy a climb to Galtymore Mountain for more amazing views.

A view of the Glen of Aherlow from the shoulder of Sturrakeen. The Glen of Aherlow is steeped in folklore, particularly associated with Geoffrey Keating, a prominent figure in Irish history. Keating, a 17th-century historian and priest, is believed to have found refuge in the glen while compiling his famous work, Foras Feasa ar Éirinn, which chronicles the history of Ireland. Local tradition suggests that Keating preached and lived in a cave in the area while evading authorities.
