Great Pen Wood Circular Walk
2.1 miles (3.3 km)
This circular walk explores the Great Pen Wood section of The Chase Nature Reserve
The wood is a 85.6-hectare woodland managed by Forestry England and includes a series of peaceful woodland trails. It's characterised by a mix of coniferous and broadleaved trees, including Corsican Pine, Oak, and Beech.
The wood is also a popular spot for dog walking and other recreational activities. It's designated as a Site of Interest for Nature Conservation (SINC) due to its ancient woodland and veteran trees. Look out for a variety of woodland birds as you make your way along the trails.
There is a car park on the eastern side of the woods where the walk starts. There is also another parking area in The Chase just to the north west.
