Ordnance Survey Map Open Streetmap This walk visits Loch Treig near Fort William, in Lochaber, in the Scottish Highlands.
Just north of the loch you'll find a parking area at Fersaid Bridge where you can start the walk. From here you can follow a footpath south along the River Treig to the Treig Dam. The path continues south along the lake with fine views across the water to the surrounding mountains.
For wonderful views down to the loch you could climb to Stob Coire Sgriodain on its eastern side.
To continue your waterside walking in the area head south east to visit Loch Ossian.

Further Information and Other Local Ideas

To the north west there's the interesting village of Spean Bridge. Here you can enjoy pleasant walks along the River Spean and climb to the Commando Monument where there is a noteworthy memorial and a splendid viewpoint.

A near natural Loch Treig Beneath the hydroelectric reservoir of Loch Treig is a natural loch. The water is drawn down almost to the level of the old loch.

View south west from Stob Coire Sgriodain. The tremendous west side of Stob Coire Sgriodain gives a wonderful eagle's eye view down to Loch Treig. Of the distant peaks, the Buachaille Etive Mor is just left of centre.
