Longslade Bottom and Longslade View Walk
This circular walk explores Longslade Bottom and Longslade View in the New Forest.
It's a very pretty area with heathland, ponds and pleasant woodland trails through Hinchelsea Wood. You'll likely see lots of New Forest ponies grazing.
You can continue your walking in the area by heading north to explore Whitefield Moor. There's also a a shared walking and cycling route along the old railway line in the area.
Along the route there are a number of car parks where you can start the walk.

Ponies grazing in Longslade Bottom, New Forest. These ponies are grazing on the edge of heathland in Longslade Bottom. The tree-covered embankment on the left is the disused railway line, which now serves as an off-road cycle-route to Lymington Junction south of Brockenhurst.
Tumulus on Blackhamsley Hill, New Forest. Looking towards the mound of a Bronze Age burial mound on Blackhamsley Hill from the roadside verge. The tumulus is between the road and the Longslade View car park. In World War II there was an Observation Corp post situated in the centre of the mound and a short distance away on the heath a Anti Aircraft battery of three guns was located, it was used mainly during the 1940/41 Blitz on Southampton.
