Lough Tay To Lough Dan Walk

6.21 miles (10 km)

Open Streetmap This walk takes you from the Lough Tay viewpoint to Lough Dan in Wicklow. It follows a section of the popular Wicklow Way, a long distance waymarked trail running through the area.
You can start the walk from the parking area at the Lough Tay viewpoint which lies just to the east of the Lough on the R759 road. From here there are glorious views over the lake and the surrounding mountains.
Just east of here you can pick up the Wicklow Way near the J B Malone Memorial. Follow the trail south and it will take you through the peaceful woodland of the Ballinastoe Forest before emerging near the southern end of Lough Dan. You can then follow a country lane north to reach the western side of the lake.
For an alternative route see the Lough Dan Walk which crosses the Cloghoe River and leads to the northern end of the lake.
