Ripon to Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Circular Walk
7.6 miles (12.3 km)
This circular walk takes you from the Yorkshire city of Ripon to the splendid Studley Park and Fountains Abbey.
The route runs for a distance of about 7.5 miles, following public footpaths and country lanes around the historic site. Part of the routes uses a section of the Ripon Rowel, a long distance waymarked trail running through the expansive park.
Starting in Ripon you will head south west along the River Skell before continuing past Studley Roger to the park. Here you will find the beautiful landscaped Georgian water garden of Studley Royal and the fascinating ruins of the 12th-century Fountains Abbey.
The route then returns to the city on bridleways and footpaths running along the southern side of the park.
