Southcote Holy Brook and River Kennet Walk
This circular walk near Reading takes you along two of the waterways to the west of the town.
You'll follow pleasant waterside paths along the pretty Holy Brook and the River Kennet in the Southcote and Horncastle areas.
Along the way you will pass Burghfield Island and the picturesque Southcote Mill with lovely views over the surrounding countryside too.
The Kennet and Avon Canal Walk meets with the river on the trail so its easy to continue your walking along this easy cycling and walking path.
To continue your walking in the area you could head west to pick up the Theale Lakes and Canal Walk.

Burghfield Island. This is one of the junctions between the River Kennet (right) and the Kennet and Avon Canal (left) their courses having diverged about 500 metres upstream (left). This forms an island which is home to the Burghfield Island Boat Club.
