Cadgwith to Lizard Point Walk
3.6 miles (5.8 km)This walk follows the South West Coast Path from Cadgwith to Lizard Point on the Cornish coast. The route runs for 3.6 miles following the waymarked trail south from Cadgwith village to Housel Bay and the Lizard Lighthouse before finishing at Lizard Point.
Leaving Cadgwith, the path follows a rugged stretch of the Lizard Peninsula coastline, passing rocky coves, low cliffs and open coastal grassland with extensive views across the English Channel.... The geology is distinctive, with serpentine and other unusual rocks contributing to the area's internationally important landscape and supporting a variety of rare coastal plants.
As the route heads south, it passes Housel Bay, a sheltered inlet backed by steep slopes and known for its clear waters and dramatic setting beneath the cliffs. The path then approaches the prominent Lizard Lighthouse, which has guided shipping around this hazardous coastline since the 18th century and remains one of the peninsula's best-known landmarks.
The walk finishes at Lizard Point, the southernmost point of mainland Great Britain. From the headland there are sweeping views along the Cornish coast and out across the open sea, while the surrounding cliffs provide habitat for seabirds and maritime plants. The combination of coastal scenery, notable geology and historic landmarks makes this one of the most memorable sections of the South West Coast Path.
