Lizard to Coverack Walk
9.8 miles (15.7 km)This walk takes you along the South West Coast Path from Lizard to Coverack. The route starts from the car park near the Lizard Lighthouse and runs for just under 10 miles, following the waymarked trail eastwards.... On the way you will pass Cadgwith and the Kennack Sands Nature Reserve.
Starting from Lizard Point, the southernmost point of mainland Great Britain, the walk follows a dramatic section of coastline characterised by rugged cliffs, rocky coves and expansive sea views. The area is noted for its unusual geology, particularly the distinctive serpentine rock that has shaped both the landscape and local history.
The route passes the traditional fishing village of Cadgwith, where a small harbour and beach are tucked into a narrow cove beneath the cliffs. Beyond the village, the path continues through open coastal grassland and heath before reaching Kennack Sands, one of the largest beaches on the Lizard Peninsula. The adjacent nature reserve supports a variety of coastal plants, birds and insects adapted to this exposed maritime environment.
Further east, the coastline alternates between rocky headlands and secluded coves, with frequent views across the English Channel. The walk finishes in Coverack, a picturesque harbour village set on a broad bay and known for its traditional fishing heritage. The route combines some of the Lizard Peninsula's finest coastal scenery, varied geology and attractive seaside settlements.
