The beach is a wide stretch of sand backed by low dunes and open grassland, facing out towards the Irish Sea near the entrance to Wexford Harbour.... The beach is generally flat and expansive, with long views along the shoreline and across the water, particularly at low tide when large areas of firm sand are exposed.
At the southern end, Carne Pier extends into the harbour and remains in use for small boats and local fishing activity. From here there are views across the water towards Rosslare and the outer harbour, with seabirds frequently seen along the shoreline and around the pier. The setting combines open coastal scenery, working harbour features and a sense of exposure typical of the south-east Wexford coast.
To continue your walking in the area head south to visit Carnsore Point or west to the lovely Ladys Island Lake.
