Carnsore Point
1.7 miles (2.7 km)This coastal walk follows the shoreline from just south of Nethertown Beach towards Carnsore Point, tracing one of the most exposed stretches of coastline in south-east County Wexford.
The route uses grassy coastal paths and informal tracks running above rocky shoreline and low cliffs, with wide sea views throughout.
Heading south, the path passes the turbines of Carnsore Wind Farm, a prominent feature of the landscape and one of the earliest wind energy sites in Ireland. The surrounding terrain is open and windswept, characterised by rough grassland, rocky outcrops and maritime vegetation shaped by strong coastal conditions.
As the walk approaches Carnsore Point, the coastline becomes more rugged, with rock platforms extending into the sea and uninterrupted views across the Irish Sea.... The headland marks the south-eastern corner of mainland Ireland and is known for seabirds, changing sea conditions and a strong sense of exposure. This linear coastal route combines open sea views, industrial heritage from the wind farm and the distinctive landscape of a remote Irish headland.
To continue your walking in the area head west to visit the circular walk at the lovely Ladys Island Lake.
