Eyam to Bakewell Walk

This walk takes you from Eyam to Bakewell in the Peak District. Starting in Eyam at the main parking area you head south through Eyam Dale to Black Harry Lane and Longstone Edge.... Near Great Longstone you'll pick up the Monsal Trail and follow it into Bakewell.
Black Harry Lane forms part of the historic network of packhorse routes across the Peak District and is now also associated with the Black Harry Trails, a network of bridleways around Longstone Edge popular with mountain bikers and horse riders. The trails cover almost 20km and include a mixture of limestone tracks, steeper sections and more open countryside. The route then crosses Longstone Edge, a prominent limestone ridge rising above the surrounding dales and providing fine views across the White Peak towards Bakewell and the Derwent Valley. The area also has a long history of lead and fluorspar mining, with old mine workings and quarrying features visible around the ridge.
Near Great Longstone you'll pick up the Monsal Trail and follow it into Bakewell. The trail provides a particularly scenic final section, following the former railway through the Wye Valley towards the popular market town. There is plenty to see in Bakewell at the end of the walk, including the historic stone bridge over the River Wye, attractive riverside paths and the town's historic buildings and independent shops. It's also a good place to finish with a visit to one of the local cafes or bakeries to sample the famous Bakewell pudding.
