Minehead to Lynton Coastal Walk

This walk takes you along the South West Coast Path from Minehead to Lynton and Lynmouth. The route runs for about 20 miles following the waymarked trail west to Bossington Hill, Selworthy Beacon, Culbone Church, Countisbury Common and Foreland Point Lighthouse before descending to Lynmouth and Lynton.
This challenging stage explores some of the finest scenery in Exmoor National Park, passing through a succession of high cliffs, wooded valleys and remote coastal headlands.... After leaving Minehead the path climbs onto North Hill, the official start of the South West Coast Path, before continuing west towards the expansive viewpoints at Selworthy Beacon and Bossington Hill. From these elevated summits there are superb views over Porlock Bay, Hurlstone Point and the Bristol Channel.
Beyond Bossington the route enters one of the wildest sections of the Exmoor coast. The path passes through the ancient oak woodlands around Culbone, where walkers can make a short detour to Culbone Church, a tiny historic church hidden amongst the trees above the sea. This remote stretch of coastline is notable for its steep combes, tumbling streams and some of the highest sea cliffs in England.
Further west, Countisbury Common provides another outstanding viewpoint with panoramic views across Lynmouth Bay and the rugged coastline towards Foreland Point. The prominent headland is marked by the distinctive lighthouse, standing above dramatic cliffs and rocky shores. Red deer are frequently seen on the surrounding heathland, while peregrine falcons and buzzards can often be spotted soaring above the cliffs.
The final section descends into Lynmouth at the mouth of the East Lyn River. Together with neighbouring Lynton, the village is one of Exmoor's most popular visitor destinations, known for its dramatic setting between wooded river valleys and the sea. Walkers can also visit the famous Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway, a unique water-powered railway linking the two settlements.
