Foreland Point lighthouse

Foreland Point. Foreland Point is a dramatic and rugged headland in Devon, marking the most northerly point along the Devon and Exmoor coast. Owned largely by the National Trust, this striking promontory juts out into the Bristol Channel, offering breathtaking panoramic views that stretch across Lynmouth Bay and along the Exmoor coastline. The landscape here is characterised by towering cliffs, with the highest reaching nearly 90 metres, and is part of a Marine Conservation Zone, highlighting its ecological significance. For walkers, Foreland Point is a truly invigorating experience, forming a challenging but rewarding section of the South West Coast Path. Visitors can explore the area, taking in the dramatic coastal scenery and the impressive Lynmouth Foreland Lighthouse, which has stood sentinel here since 1900. The paths can be steep and adventurous, particularly the "goat track" around the very tip of the point, but alternative, gentler routes are available, ensuring that the stunning vistas and wild beauty of this iconic Exmoor landmark are accessible to many.
