Chester Le Street to Durham Walk

This walk follows a section of the Weardale Way from Chester Le Street to Durham.
The route runs for a distance of just over 7 miles, following the waymarked trail in a southerly direction. On the way you will pass the village of Great Lumley and the historic ruins of the ancient Finchale Abbey. Here you can walk around the abbey grounds and enjoy views of the River Wear. Along the way there are also some fine views of the surrounding Weardale countryside and hills.
