Hope Cove to Soar Mill Cove Walk

3.2 miles (5.2 km)

The walk from Hope Cove to Soar Mill Cove is a spectacular three-mile stretch of the South West Coast Path that showcases the rugged grandeur of the South Hams coastline.
Starting from the thatched charm of Inner Hope, the trail climbs steeply onto the dramatic headland of Bolt Tail. This site is home to the remains of an Iron Age promontory hillfort and offers a breathtaking vantage point where, on a clear day, the views stretch across the entire expanse of Bigbury Bay toward the distant Cornish coast.
From the heights of Bolt Tail, the path levels out as it traverses the expansive plateau of Bolberry Down.... This area is a haven for coastal wildlife, managed by the National Trust to preserve its rare wildflower meadows and maritime heathland, which hums with the activity of skylarks and stonechats. The terrain here is relatively flat and accessible, providing easy walking along the cliff edge before the route begins its final, winding descent. The journey concludes at the secluded and rocky Soar Mill Cove, a hidden gem accessible only by foot or boat, where the dramatic jagged peaks of the surrounding cliffs frame a quiet beach that feels worlds away from the busier nearby resorts.
