Barnesmore Gap to Salmon Leap Ballybofey Walk

9.3 miles (15 km)

This walk takes you from the Barnesmore Gap to the Salmon Leap near the town of Ballybofey in east County Donegal.
The route starts off at the Barnesmore Gap picnic and parking area a few miles south west of Ballybofey. The walk then heads north, passing Lough Mourne and Garranbane Hill before coming to the Salmon Leap on the River Finn.... Here you can see the wild Atlantic salmon climbing the narrow falls at Cloghan as they migrate upstream.
Along the way there are some wonderful views of the Bluestack Mountains to enjoy.
To the south east you'll find the Killeter Forest Walk. The forest is a good place to extend your walking in the area. Lough Eske can be found just to the west.
