Mousehole to Paul Walk

2.1 miles (3.3 km)

This circular walk takes you from Mousehole to neighbouring Paul. Starting from Mousehole Harbour the route runs along the coast to Penlee Point and Skilly where you follow an inland footpath west to Paul.... You then follow Mousehole Lane back down to Mousehole.
The walk combines one of Cornwall's prettiest fishing villages with quiet inland lanes and fine coastal scenery on the Penwith Peninsula. Leaving Mousehole Harbour, the route follows the coast to Penlee Point, where there are panoramic views across Mount's Bay towards St Michael's Mount, Penzance and the Lizard Peninsula. The rocky shoreline and maritime grassland support a variety of seabirds, while grey seals are occasionally seen offshore.
Turning inland at Skilly, the route climbs gently through a patchwork of traditional Cornish fields and hedgerows to the historic village of Paul. The village is centred on the impressive St Pol de Léon Church, a Grade I listed building with origins dating back to the medieval period. Nearby stands the historic Dolly Pentreath Memorial, commemorating the woman traditionally regarded as one of the last native speakers of the Cornish language.
The return to Mousehole follows quiet country lanes with frequent views back towards the coast before descending into the village's narrow streets and picturesque harbour. Mousehole is renowned for its granite cottages, small sandy harbour and long maritime history, while its sheltered waterfront provides one of the most distinctive settings in west Cornwall.
