Guildford to Westhumble Walk
This scenic 12-mile walk traces a captivating section of the North Downs Way, guiding you from the historic town of Guildford to the charming village of Westhumble in Surrey.
The clearly waymarked trail heads east from Guildford, offering an accessible starting point from the car park near Chantry Wood. From here, the route soon begins its ascent to the iconic St Martha's Hill, crowned by its ancient church, which provides a magnificent vantage point and panoramic views across the surrounding Surrey Hills.
As you continue your journey, the path gracefully weaves through several beautiful woodlands, with intermittent clearings providing breathtaking vistas over the North Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. These elevated sections offer a true sense of the rolling, chalk-scarred landscape that defines this part of Surrey, allowing you to appreciate the rich tapestry of forests and fields below. Towards the latter stages of the walk, the trail passes through the picturesque rows of vines at Denbies Hillside, part of one of England's largest vineyards, before finally traversing the expansive and tranquil woodlands of Ranmore Common, bringing you towards your destination in Westhumble.
