Clyde Walkway
This splendid, waterside cycle and walking route, runs along the River Clyde, from Glasgow to New Lanark, South Lanarkshire.
The route starts in Glasgow’s West End where the Rivers Clyde and Kelvin meet, and heads to Cambuslang via Glasgow Green and the Broomielaw. This section takes you through industrial areas with a number of interesting historical buildings. You then head into the countryside through Uddingston, Bothwell (passing the medieval castle) and Blantyre to the delightful Strathclyde Country Park. Here you follow the banks of Strathclyde Loch before following the river to Garrion Bridge, Dalserf and Crossford. The final section takes you from Crossford to the New Lanark World heritage Site and the Falls of Clyde Nature Reserve.
The walk is waymarked with a blue fish logo.
The river path forms part of our Glasgow to Balloch Cycle Route which takes you from the city centre to the banks of Loch Lomond on nice traffic free paths.

Pubs/Cafes
For a classic old pub in the city head to The Old Toll Bar in Kinning Park. This 19th century pub has a wonderfully restored interior with ornate wood panelling, antique photography, decorative mirrors and hand-painted stained glass windows. The place is very friendly and full of character and charm. You can find the pub on the southern side of the river in Kinning Park at 1 Paisley Rd West, with a postcode of G51 1LF for your sat navs.
Further Information and Other Local Ideas
At Glasgow cathedral next to the river you could pick up the popular Glasgow Murals Trail which showcases the talent of local artists. Many of the murals are large, wonderful creations covering an entire side of a building. It's an impressive sight and a must do attraction for lovers of art and walking.
Between Hamilton and Motherwell the river joins with the River Avon where you can enjoy a walk along the Avon Walkway. This will take you to the popular Chatelherault Country Park where there are miles of trails to try.
For cyclists the route links with Sustrans National Cycle Route 75. This signed route takes you from Edinburgh to Glasgow and then to Portavadie on the shores of Loch Fyne on the west coast of the Cowal peninsula in Argyll and Bute.
In Motherwell you will pass the Barons Haugh Nature Reserve. The RSPB reserve you will find pleasant wetland areas with a wide variety of birdlife to look out for.

The near end of straight line of trees, planted along a field boundary, is right beside the footpath at this point, on the left; the foliage in the upper-left corner belongs to the nearest of the trees. This line of trees extends for 230 metres in an ENE direction.
