Shenstone Walks

3 miles (5 km)

This Staffordshire based village is located just south of the city of Lichfield.
This walk from the village akes you to the nearby Wall Roman Site. The English Heritage runs site is located in the neighbouring village of Wall which lies just to the north. The site was an important staging post on Watling Street, the Roman military road to north Wales. Today you can still see the remains of an inn for travellers and the public baths. There's also an interesting museum where you can learn about the finds from archeological digs in the area.
You can reach the site by following a pleasant ountry lane north from Shenstone for just over 1.5 miles. The walk starts from Shenstone train station which can be reached from Lichfield City in around 5 minutes and Birmingham New Street in just over half an hour.
