Triscombe Stone and Quarry Walk

3 miles (4.8 km)

Ordnance Survey Map Open Streetmap This 3 mile circular walk visits the Triscombe Stone and Triscombe Quarry in the Quantock Hills of Somerset.
You'll also climb to Wills Neck, the highest point in the Quantock Hills.
There is a car park right next to the stone where you can start your walk. From here it is a short stroll west to the standing stone which dates back to the Bronze Age and marks the crossing point of the old Drovers Track that went from Watchet to Taunton across the spine of the Quantock Hills.
Continue west and you will soon pass the old quarry before looping round to climb Wills Neck. From here you can enjoy some wonderful views over the surrounding area.
The walk includes some peaceful woodland trails with lots of wildlife and ponies to look out for on the way.

Triscombe Stone

Triscombe Stone. The name comes from the Celtic word ‘tris’, meaning meeting.

Above Triscombe Quarry. From the Macmillan Way West. The quarry is on this side of the comber; beyond is Marrow Hill, mostly in ST1535, and Great Hill beyond the next wooded combe, actually Triscombe Combe. On the left, the vale between the Quantocks and the Brendons runs northwest to the sea, just visible at Minehead.
