Warleigh Weir Walk

1.7 miles (2.7 km)

Ordnance Survey Map Open Streetmap This walk takes you along a section of the Kennet and Avon Canal Walk to the picturesque Warleigh Weir.
You can start the walk from Brassknocker Basin just east of the village of Monkton Combe. There's a car park and a cafe at this pretty spot on the canal.
From here you head north towards the impressive Dundas Aqueduct. The Scheduled Ancient Monument carries the Kennet and Avon Canal over the River Avon (the Somerset / Wiltshire border) and the Wessex Main Line railway from Bath to Westbury.
The walk continues north to Warleigh Weir, located on the River Avon. It's a lovely spot with the rushing water and views of the surrounding hills and woodland. The weir is also a popular spot for swimmers during warm weather.
The area is located close to Bath so you can continue your walking along the popular Bath Skyline Walk. The American Museum at Claverton is also very close to the weir.

Weir to Claverton Pumping Station

Warleigh Weir. The weir was originally built to supply a head of water to a grist mill at Claverton. The weir was subsequently raised by a height of 12 inches between 1809 and 1813 as part of the construction program for the Claverton Pumping Station, which sits on the site of the old grist mill
