Ellerton Lake Walk
This walk visits Ellerton Lake in Ellerton-on-Swale in in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire.
You can park in the car park at the lake and enjoy a pleasant stroll along the water. The park is home to a watersports centre with open water swimming a popular activity on the lake.
Country lanes then lead you north to visit the nearby Bolton-on-Swale Lake. Here you will find a peaceful nature reserve where you can look out for a variety of water loving birds from the bird hide.
After your walk you can relax in the dog friendly Ellerton Lakeside Cafe where there's a good range of meals and snacks.
To continue your walking in the area head just a mile or so south east and you could visit Kiplin Hall. There's some lovely grounds and a popular snowdrop walk at the historic Jacobean house. To the north west is the popular town of Richmond where there's some lovely trails along the River Swale and the 12th century Easby Abbey to visit.
