A nice easy walk along Peakshole Water from Hope to Castleton in the Peak District. The pretty stream flows through the village of�Castleton�to join the�River Noe�in nearby�Hope. You can follow a nice footpath along the water, running for nearly two miles.
It's a fairly flat route with the option of climbing up to Peveril Castle in Castleton. The�ruined 11th-century castle was founded some time between the�Norman Conquest�of 1066 and its first recorded mention in the�Domesday Survey�of 1086. From its elevated position you can enjoy great views over the Hope Valley.

Pubs/Cafes

Head to the Cheshire Cheese in Hope for refreshments in a wonderful setting. The wonderful old pub dates from the 1500s, has a lovely beer garden and is very walker friendly. It's located just north of Hope, on the Edale Road at postcode S33 6ZF.
In Castleton head to Ye Olde Nags Head on Cross St (Postcode: S33 8WH). Set in a 17th-century former coaching inn, this traditional village pub serves great food and has a good selection of ales. The pub is very walker friendly and has a a great atmosphere.

Further Information and Other Local Ideas

Just to the south of Hope you can pick up the circular Bradwell Walk. This visits the pretty village before heading to the ancient Roman Fort at Brough and climbing Bradwell Edge. There's also a fine 16th century pub in the area.
