Shipton Gorge Walks

This small village is located just east of Bridport in the county of Dorset. The pretty settlement is surrounded by some lovely rolling countryside and is close to the wonderful Jurassic Coast at Burton Bradstock. There's also a historic 15th century church, picturesque thatched cottages and a fine local pub for refreshments after your walk.
This circular walk from the village takes you up to Shipton Hill. The hill stands at a height of 170 metres and lies just to the north east of the village. You can follow a mixture of quiet country lanes and public footpaths up to the hill summit where you'll find a trig point and some pleasant views over the surrounding countryside.

Pubs/Cafes

Back in the village the New Inn is a nice place for some post exercise rest and refreshment. The village pub serves fine food and a has a good selection of ales. There's also a lovely garden area for warmer days. You can find them on Shipton Road at postcode DT6 4LT for your sat navs.

Dog Walking

The hill and country trails are ideal for fit dogs. The New Inn mentioned above is also dog friendly.

View North From Shipton Hill. The hill is one of the highest and most prominent hills in the area visible from a considerable distance. In the middle is the unnamed copse above Uploders Farm and beyond are the strip lynchets between Loders and Uploders.
