Wylam to Prudhoe Walk

Ordnance Survey Map Open Streetmap This lovely riverside walk takes you along the River Tyne from Wylam to Prudhoe in Northumberland.
You can start the walk from just opposite the Wylam Bridge train station. From here you pick up a shared cycling and walking trail heading west to Ovingham Bridge and the Tyne Riverside Country Park. It's a flat trail running for a distance of about 2.5 miles. Head south east of the finish point and you could also visit the historic Prudhoe Castle which is run by English Heritage.
On the way you can enjoy lovely views across the river to the surrounding countryside.

Prudhoe Castle, Prudhoe, Northumberland. The ruined medieval English castle is situated on the south bank of the River Tyne. It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and a Grade I listed building. Here you can climb the steps to the atmospheric gatehouse chapel, explore the inner and outer baileys and look up at the impressive, towering keep.
