Manchester to Chester Cycle Route
52.2 miles (84 km)
This cycle route follows a series of National Cycle Network routes from Manchester to Chester. You'll follow sections of National Cycle Route 6, National Cycle Route 62 and National Cycle Route 5 along some fine Sustrans paths.
It is not the most direct route but uses good signed trails to travel between the two cities. Along the way there are several long traffic free sections including one along a dismantled railway line near Lymm on the Trans Pennine Trail. There's also a waterside run along the Shropshire Union Canal into Chester.
The route starts in the city centre of Manchester and runs for just over 52 miles, passing Warrington and Runcorn on the way.
