Stanwick Lakes
Explore 750 acres of parkland and nature reserve in the heart of Northamptonshire's beautiful Nene Valley. The park has a lovely cycle and walking track passing between the many lakes. In addition to the circular cycle routes around the lakes there is a four mile linear route running from Irthlingborough towards Thrapston, along a former railway line. Cycle hire is available within the park and there is an excellent visitor centre with interactive displays.
The Nene Way walking route passes through the park so you could continue your walk along the River Nene to the nearby town of Wellingborough and the lovely Irchester Country Park. Just to the west you'll find the adjacent Rushden Lakes.
There's more lakes, meadows, nature reserves and wildlife to see here. Look out for golden plover, cetti's warblers, coots, oystercatchers and grey herons in this area.

Pubs/Cafes
Head east into Stanwick village and you could enjoy some post walk refreshment at the Duke of Wellington. The 18th century pub has been beautifully restored and serves high quality dishes from an extensive menu. The Duke is named after Bonaparte's nemesis because the first pair of his eponymous Wellington boots were made in Stanwick. So pop in and join us for a taste of history. You can find them near the old church at postcode NN9 6PS.
Dog Walking
The park is a lovely place for a dog walk. You will likely meet other owners on your visit.
Further Information and Other Local Ideas
One nice idea is to follow the Nene Way north to visit Little Addington, Woodford and the town of Thrapston. Here you will find the lovely Titchmarsh Nature Reserve where there's more lakes and wildlife to see. You can also pick up the Ringstead Circular Walk which explores the pretty Kinewell Lake and the neighbouring villages of Woodford and Denford.
Just to the south you can visit the lovely Summer Leys Nature Reserve and the village of Great Doddington. There's some pretty lakes and lots of birds to see in this wildlife rich reserve.

One of many lakes at Stanwick Lakes. The park is located on the fringes of Stanwick village and was poened in 2006. The 750 acres (304 hectares) of old gravel pits are managed by the Rockingham Forest Trust on behalf of the East Northamptonshire District Council. It is part of the larger River Nene Regional Park.
Lake and reedbed
Stanwick Lakes Visitor Centre. Before the construction of a bypass and mass excavation of gravel, a Roman villa was excavated in 1984–1992 and several mosaics were found. In 2013, one of the mosaics was returned after study and is now on display in the Visitor Centre.
Spanning the river Nene, this footbridge links the footpath from Little Addington to the recently created Stanwick lakes Country Park.
