Castor, Ailsworth and Water Newton Circular Walk
This circular walk explores the countryside surrounding the Cambridgeshire villages of Castor, Ailsworth and Water Newton.
The three villages are located very close to each other in a lovely spot next to the River Nene. You can enjoy some pleasant riverside trails with some fine rural scenery. Next to the river you'll also find the sites of old Roman Villas and pottery kilns. The area around Water Newton is particularly lovely with a lock, picturesque mill and view of the old church making a fine scene.
The walk starts and finishes from the public car park just to the north of Water Newton.
The Nene Way passes through the area so you could pick up this waymarked trail to continue your walk. Heading east takes you into Peterborough passing the pretty lakes in Ferry Meadows Country Park.
