Chepstow Park Wood
This large area of woodland is located a few miles north west of Chepstow. It contains miles of trails and footpaths with the option of extending your walk in the adjacent Fedw Wood and New Wood. Parking is available off Devauden Road about 1.5 miles north of St Arvans.
The Wye Valley Walk passes nearby St Arvans so you could pick this up and head through Wyndcliffe Woods to Tintern Abbey to extend your walk.

Dog Walking
As you'd imagine the woodland trails are ideal for dog walking. You'll probably meet other owners on a fine weekend day.
Further Information and Other Local Ideas
The Wye Valley Greenway runs to Tintern abbey from nearby Sedbury. The shared cycling and walking trail follows a disused railway line, notably passing through the murky Tidenham Tunnel on the way.
To the east is the 365 steps path up to the Eagle's Nest viewpoint at Wynd Cliff. The site has been described as "one of the most impressive viewpoints in the British Isles".

Chepstow Park Wood car park and forestry commission sign
This earthwork is located near the summit of Chepstow Park Hill close to a forest track. The trees around the site have recently been thinned. The circular earthwork consists of an outer bank (to the right of the photo), a ditch (centre), and a central mound (to the left). Within the mound there are the ruins of small house. Following a recent local campaign tje wppds have been retained in public ownership and are managed by the Forestry Commission. Patches of native woodland survive in predominantly coniferous plantation.
Bench by the reservoir. A nice place to sit and relax with a view over the water.

Forest trail junction. The trail continues across Chepstow Park Wood to Nex Common. A post indicating a footpath to the north (and a car park) can just be discerned against a bush just right of centre.
