Dingle to Dunquin Walk
A walk from Dingle to Dunquin is a magnificent coastal and countryside journey along the western edge of the Dingle Peninsula. This is a linear walk that covers some of the most dramatic scenery in Ireland. The walk follows the Dingle Way long distance trail for just under 22km.
Starting in the lively town of Dingle, the trail leads you west, soon giving way to a more rural landscape. The path follows the coastline, taking you past the beautiful, curving sweep of Ventry Harbour, a sheltered bay with a golden beach. From there, you'll pass ancient historical sites such as Fair Fort Ringfort, a circular stone fortification that offers a glimpse into the area's Iron Age past.
The route continues with stunning views of the Atlantic, leading you to the iconic Coumeenoole Bay, a secluded sandy cove flanked by towering cliffs, famously featured in the film Ryan's Daughter.
Further on, the walk takes you along the famous Sheep's Walk—a path originally used by farmers to move livestock. This section descends towards the small pier where boats depart for the Blasket Islands. The trail ends near the Blasket Centre, a fascinating museum dedicated to the unique culture and history of the Blasket Islanders. The walk offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, ancient history, and vibrant culture.
You can continue your walking in the area on the Dingle Lighthouse Walk.
