Leyland Cross

Leyland Cross, Leyland, Lancashire. The "Cross", as it is simply known throughout Leyland, is believed to be medieval in date. It stands in what was once the centre of old Leyland. The drinking fountain replaces an old well which still exists below the surface. The old buildings and street behind have been demolished and a car park [for a well-known supermarket] now sadly dominate the area.

Railway Worden Park

Railway Worden Park. The miniature railway winds through woodland next to the car park in the centre of the park. The station, which can be seen in the rear of the photo, is the home of the Leyland Model Society and, on many weekends when they run their trains, rides are available to the public. This summer [2006] the track is being extended greatly and will eventually run through large areas of the park.
