Ryde to Seaview Walk
This walk runs from Ryde to Seaview along a section of the Isle of Wight Coast Path. The route runs for roughly 2.5 miles, following the waymarked trail east from Ryde Pier to Nettlestone Point in the village of Seaview.
The route follows a flat, paved promenade for the majority of the distance, making it an accessible walk that is suitable for all fitness levels. Starting from the historic Ryde Pier, the path passes the expansive sands of Ryde Beach and Appley Park, where the prominent 19th-century Appley Tower stands on the seafront. The trail continues past Puckpool Park—a former Victorian coastal defence battery—before tracking the shoreline alongside the seawall towards the sailing village of Seaview and finishing at Nettlestone Point.
The intertidal sandflats and coastal parks along this stretch provide important feeding grounds for resident and migratory wildlife. Walkers can regularly observe wading birds such as oystercatchers, curlews, and turnstones foraging along the shoreline at low tide. The adjacent parklands and mature trees support a variety of coastal songbirds, whilst the shallow waters of the Solent are a hunting ground for brent geese during the winter months and cormorants throughout the year.
